Airtel Africa wins in Global Mobile Awards

The 16th Annual Global Mobile Awards have been announced, with African technology and mobile solutions featuring in the top honors. Airtel Africa featured prominently
in the awards hosted by the GSMA, a global association of mobile phone operators, and held  during the Mobile World Congress 2011.
Best Mobile Money Product or Solution went to Airtel Africa, MasterCard Worldwide and Standard Chartered Bank for Airtel Card. The virtual card was recently launched in Kenya with plans to expand across Africa, enabling people mobile phone customers to connect to the global marketplace  through the extensive network of MasterCard and Standard Chartered.  Last year, the same award went to another mobile money solution pioneered in Kenya –  M-Pesa, Safaricom Kenya’s innovative implementation for mobile phone money transfer.
Tango Telcom won Best Customer Care & CRM (Customer Relationship) for the Dynamic Pricing Service that the company implemented for Airtel Africa. Tango Telcom, a global company headquartered in Ireland, recently opened a regional office in Nairobi, Kenya, in order to support the growing African demand for its products and services.
